Your First Early Intervention Session
Your first session allows your therapist to get to know your child and family. Together, you’ll discuss your child’s strengths, interests, daily routines, and any concerns you may have. You’ll also set goals based on your little one’s individual needs and your family’s priorities.
Early Intervention sessions use a play-based and routine-based approach. Our core belief is that children can realize growth through guided learning and therapy methods. That’s why our therapists build learning into everyday activities. Playtime, mealtime, getting dressed, and other familiar routines all become opportunities to develop new skills!
By incorporating learning into everyday routines, children have more opportunities to practice new skills throughout the day. Practicing these skills regularly helps support developmental milestones and greater independence.
How Parents and Caregivers are Involved
Parents and caregivers are an important part of Early Intervention. During sessions, our therapists will answer any questions you may have. They’ll also demonstrate activities and share simple ways to support your child’s developmental milestones at home.
Some examples include:
- Building communication skills by singing songs, reading, or talking about everyday activities
- Practicing sharing, taking turns, and interacting with others during playtime
- Following simple instructions when cleaning up toys or getting ready for bed

Supporting Progress Between Sessions
Children learn through repetition and practice. That’s why Early Intervention doesn’t end when a session is over. Regularly practicing new skills at home helps reinforce what your little one learns during sessions.

Early Intervention with Right Start Children’s Services

Since 2005, Right Start Children’s Services has provided Early Intervention and pediatric therapy to children (zero to three) and families in Pennsylvania.
Our compassionate team is made up of experienced Occupational Therapists, Physical Therapists, Speech-Language Pathologists, and Special Instructors. We offer a full range of Early Intervention services at no cost to eligible families, including:
